A cute email

Chaim Shimshon, a proud Russian (whom we hope will grow up to emulate some other great Russians, such as Reb Mendel Futerfas at best, or Alexander Ovechkin at worst).

Someone asked me a good question in an email: why wasn't Yefim voted out by the community in the last election?

The answer: last election was this past summer. Yefim told only 5 of his friends about the date, time and place. Then he was revoted in. Apparently there's no rule which says he cannot do this.

Anyway, I got a cute email Erev Shabbos. It was sent when it was already Shabbos in Stavropol.

Dear Zvi,

Tonight we gathered together about 7 of us in the Sachnut where we prayed for your return and sang all the songs from the friday night prayer you taught us. We then ate a Shabbat meal. We hope you return, we don't want any other Rabbi. Say hello to Chaya and the kids...

Then theletter goes on to discuss other stuff.

I thought it was very cute.
